Summer III

Yeah, I just returned from a slightly exhausting bike ride along the Rhine, took a shower and now I'm sitting outside in the garden soaking up the last sunrays of the day. Last Thursday I had my last exam (which I passed) and so from Friday on, I'll have holidays until 21th of August! Seems to be a long time, and, yeah, it is! But you don't have to be jealous, I have to learn for the exams in August and September. Anyway, the next few weeks I won't touch anything concerning my studies. I can work at the agency, do a lot of sports, definitely a lot, and enjoy the rest of the day...
Which is something I already did the last days even before my last exam. On Wednesday I decided not to learn too long, so I went swimming with Jonathan and his girlfriend. It was such a warm day, I guess the hottest this year, so we decided to go to a chilly und cosy spot directly on the Rhine to take a swim in the evening sun. It was one of these days when the Rhine just smells like the sea, and you wish summer will never end!

We listened to Jack Johnson, talked and once in a while took a swim in the clear blue green water. When I came home at 10:30PM the sky was still bright and I sat down for a moment to soak up the beauty of this wunderful summer evening.
On the horizon I could see lightning, but I knew it was too far away to concern me...

After my exam on Thursday I went to eat Pizza at Santa Lucia with a friend before I went back to the BQM, where we talked and had some drinks. Most of us went to a party called SoNaFe located at ETH Hönggerberg. There was no entrance fee and therefore it was full to bursting. It was once again a nice evening, and I hope I can post some pictures soon...

Summer II

I just got up a few minutes ago... Actually I should be learning for my last exam next week, but I think there's still plenty of time to do so. But I have an excuse for sleeping that late. Yesterday was the ETH Beach Party on the edge of Lake Zurich! And we had even more than one reason to go. First, it was a Thursday and we don't have lectures on Fridays, so this was perfect. The other reason was an exam we had in the afternoon. And after exams you want to do something. On Wednesday when we had another exam in food chemistry, I went cycling for an hour or so. And yesterday we simply went to the Beach Party. It started at 3PM and you paid 10.- entrance fee, but you could eat and drink as much as you wanted. We had a great time together, went to take a swim in the lake, danced, talked and enjoyed the Party!

Already on Wednesday I went to town having a few drinks with my friend Jonathan. We talked about the world in general and women in special ;-). Last weekend I was invited at a BBQ by a friend of my friends (and so on). Right now nothing is cosyier than chilling in the garden with nice music, nice people and a nice drink... Yeah, summer is great! As my friend had to get up early the next morning I also hoped I could get to bed soon (as I went clubbing the day before until 4AM). But no, we had some Ice Cream at El Bertin, a drink at Domino Club and there we met so many people we literally were trapped ;-)!

Last week, I had a few Milkshakes with Jonathan and once I went to have a drink at Lounge 74 with a girl I met at the competition I mentioned in the last post. So again, I never felt bored since spliting up with my girlfriend...

Summer I

I guess this is gonna be a long long post, cause I have to write down quite a few things.

Maybe the most important thing is: Me and my girlfriend split up... Just one day before my birthday we had a big crisis. I tried everything, and I mean everything, to fix it. But she didn't wanted to accept, so I didn't see a future together. It was hard, I couldn't sleep, was thinking and thinking all the time, and most of all I was sad. Really sad.

But as soon as it was over, and this was the point: when I knew it was definitely over, and I wasn't in uncertanity any longer, I said to myself: Hey, you did enjoy this time as much as you could, but now you have to go on and look forward to your future.

And I once again want to citate what I wrote once before (It sounds best if you listen to Nelly Furtado - All Good Things (Come to an End)):

Good things never last, so enjoy the good moments whilst they last. Because they never last. Sooner or later, it all comes to an end. What matters then is how you handle it.

Yeah, how you handle it. Want to know what I did? I called a friend, went to cinema and then drinking; drinking until 5AM. I had to get up a few hours later, as I had a competition. And even without a good preparation I won the 1000m race, which made me think, ...wow... no sleep, drinking, and you still win races.... Then I went back home, made a delicious Tiramisu and took the train to a Party in Zurich held by Sophie (the girl that supported me on phone when I was lost in Glattbrugg). It was cool and I had a few drinks to really enjoy this marvellous party! Again it was pretty late until we went to bed...

One thing I want to tell to everybody who was here for me, talked to me and gave me many helpful advice: Thank you!

Then I started reading the novel "I Am Charlotte Simmons" by Tom Wolfe. This was almost the only thing I could do the last week. But again, it helped. Check out the link if you're interested.

Right a few minutes ago, I happened to witness a thunderstorm I've never seen here. The sky suddenly turned black as hell, it became sturmy and it started to rain. And the rain became heavier and heavier. There was lightning after lightning. Thunder after thunder. And I had to take the bus to town... At the mainstation: Pure chaos. Only a few, including me :-), had an umbrella, the rest was waiting or looking for shelter. Now as I write down these words, the rain stopped a bit, but still, this was crazy...

UPDATE 05.06.2007: The thunderstorm's been in the news all over Switzerland...
