Wintersemester VI

Right now I feel a bit depressed even though there is only one day left until christmas holiday. Even though soon I will be in Paris. Even though we just had a little party with christmas cookies, cakes, chips, coffee and wine after the last microbiology practical training. But still I don't feel happy right now...
[Listening to Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars]

Maybe one reason for my mood might be that I didn't sleep that much recently. I watched once again some movies I got from a friend:

Yamakasi - Les samouraïs des temps modernes
Blow
Das Experiment
Wrong Turn

Yamakasi - Les samouraïs des temps modernes is a french movie and demonstrates the skills of the Yamakasi, a group of freerunners, who battle against injustice in the Paris ghetto. You can find a short freerunner video here.
Often mistaken for Japanese, the word yamakasi is actually taken from an African language, which is spoken in the two Congos. Ya makási can mean "strong body, strong spirit, strong person", though in French usage its meaning is closer to "high energy".
Blow with Johnny Depp was very touching and is now one of my favorites.

On sunday all shops and stores were open so we went to town for a walk where we met Joëlle. We went to have coffee at Fass, where a vernissage of Milk and Vodka, a comic drawer, is held until January.

Since beginning of December we now have fast ICE trains from Germany instead of the always late italian Cisalpinos. However we still have only one direct train to Zurich an hour. But Zurich has a vision for 2025 where they have a wide train, tram and bus net to cover all suburbs and surrounding regions.

Wintersemester V

Once again a week passed that fast! And in 14 days it's Christmas. But I'm absolutely not in the mood for christmas time. Yesterday I walked home at 5 AM after checking out some clubs in town. And I clearly heard birds singing spring melodies. I sat down as it was quite warm and listened to the birds' twittering. I felt as it was spring, really... Yeah, maybe I have to tell you where I've been yesterday: First I went to the Kammgarn to have some drinks and then to another club called TapTab, where I met some friends.

On friday we went to the cinema to watch Children of Men which is set in London in 2027 where human no longer can procreate: No children. No future. No hope.

Last week I checked out the two new Starbucks stores I mentioned in the last post. When I was in Oerlikon I strolled around the new suburb and was quite impressed and made a few fotos.

Then I was looking for a Freitag bag. I wasn't quite sure if I should get one as they are pretty expensive (CHF 200.-).

The last thing I want to mention: A friend made a video clip for a swiss hiphop combo, which is now playing on Viva Swiss.

See the clip on YouTube!

Wintersemester IV

It's already December, which means only a few days to go until we take off for Paris. More information will follow in the next posts.

I went to have my hair cut at Kopfsalat in Schaffhausen. Actually I made once a picture when it was closed...

Moreover I went twice to Winterthur in the last weeks, just for fun. I think it's Switzerlands 6th biggest city with a population of almost 100'000. Once I decided to drink coffee at Tibits by Hiltl. But then I realised I had to take the next train back to Schaffhausen.
But let's talk about coffee: Starbucks opened several new stores in Switzerland. In Zurich they opened one at Schaffhauserplatz and one in Oerlikon, where a whole suburb (Centre Zurich North) was created around Max-Bill Platz.
