Madrid

I'm very sorry that I didn't blog for a long time now... I had some exams in food sensory, food biotech and food analytics and therefore I had to study a little bit...

Now I want to post some pictures of Madrid where I've been in October for four days! It was actually a pretty spontanous trip, I never had plans to go to Spain and not at all during the semester. But then I got a call from Livia (she was one of my friends that have been in the Netherlands) and she asked me what I was doing on the weekend. As I didn't had any plans, I immediately accepted her offer. Our aircraft was due to take off in Basel bound for Madrid on Thursday evening and come back on Monday. That was just perfect!

Her flatmate Janina is actually from Madrid and so we only had to pay for the flight, everything else was organized. So we could stay Janinas aunt's place and her parents even payed for the metro & bus ticket.

All in all we were around ten people, me, Livia, Janina and her brother, their parents an grandparents... It was just great having such good cityguides. We visited the whole city and what we did most was eating. The weather was just great, it was sunny and still pretty warm, at least compared to Switzerland. One evening we went to Café Central where the Lluis Coloma Jazz Trio was performing. Damn cool!

Tokyo IV

My last day in Tokyo was a relaxing one. I had nothing really to do so I decided to spend my day reading and drinking coffee at Starbucks in Shinjuku. When I came to Japan in 2005 Shinjuku was the first neighborhood I've been in Tokyo, so I knew my way through the crowded streets. I ordered a Java Chip Frappucino and sat down at the window front and continued reading my book by Haruki Murakami. Then I suddenly was involved in a conversation with a japanese girl named Nozomi. We talked quite for a long time and found that we have a great deal in common. As I asked for a place to eat out with my friends, she recommended the Daikanyama area, but my friends already had other plans... We joined David, a swiss friend of Sophie living in Tokyo for dinner and karaoke afterwards. It was fun as hell and especially Davids interpretation of "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin was a highlight!
My flight back with KLM was comfortable but pretty long again, as I had a stop over in Amsterdam. Back at home I enjoyed a beautiful autumn day before my lectures at ETH started for the next semester...
