Japan III

Something about japanese food: It's very tasty (^o^) ...ehm.. I mean delicious! Whereas chinese, thai and indian food is quite popular in Switzerland, we don't have a lot of japanese restaurants. In my hometown there isn't even a single one. maybe it's because we don't have sea and therefore it's bloody expensive to get fresh seafood. Anyway, i tried several dishes in Japan. From okonomiyaki to takoyaki, subiyaki to hiroshimayaki, from sushi to sashimi, from natto to toro, from tofu to miso, udon to ramen noodles, yatuhashi and greentea... oh it was great.

So, i'm thinking to open a japanese restaurant in Schaffhausen...

Japan II

I went on a sightseeing tour in Tokyo where I was introduced to Tokyo Tower, Imperial Palace and to Sensoji-Temple in Asakusa. Actually my friend Kazuki used to work in Sensoji Temple so he could tell me some insider knowledge about the usage of the temple nowadays... quite funny! The view you have from Tokyo Tower, which is even taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris/FRA, is absolutely stunning! (I though the view from Skytower in Auckland/NZL would be special, but what I saw here was much much better!!!)
If you were lucky you could see Mt. Fuji on clear days. Unfortunately we missed this tiny piece of luck.

Japan I

Before I needed to go back to university I went to Japan for 10 days. I took a flight from Zurich to Tokyo with a stop-over in London. Fly British Airways! 15 hours later I was in Narita where the airport of Tokyo is located. There I took the Narita Express train to Tokyo Station. After 60 mins I was in the middle of this burstling city! Tokyo has many diverse districts with different folks. Compared to my hometown it's just awesome how many people you can see walking by and by and by...

New Zealand VII

A spot you need to see! It's in the Abdel Tasman National Park near Nelson on the south island. There is a part called "Golden Bay", and it's true; the sand looks like gold. If you have a good budget you can go kayaking or book a boat trip that will bring you deeper into the national park. I tell you, it's worth spending the money! You will never forget the "Golden Bay"!

This is a very strange rock formation near Punakaiki!

Lake Tekapo on the south island. The lake is of a pure blue... I was impressed, really! I stayed at the YHA and the staff said "You'll get a 1000-Dollar view from that house." They were 100% right!

It's near 90 mile beach! you come out of the forest and then there are sanddunes as far as you can see!

This is on the very top of the North Island. I went there together with some friends. It was stunning! Takes a half day ride from Auckland to get there. But it's still worth going!

New Zealand I

From November 2004 to February 2005 I was in New Zealand. The first 10 weeks I've spent in Auckland on the north island. It's a vibrant and very international city. You will find people from everywhere... Europe, Asia, Polynesia, even from America.

The south island is quite different. Landscape and nature are just wonderful. You can see everything there.... mountains, glaciers, rainforests, volcanos, golden beaches...

It's paradise on earth!
