Internship II
Before the last month ended I took a day off and went to Zurich to finally hand in my Bachelor thesis. According to my supervisor my mark should be pretty good, but from now on I can't do anything else than wait. Besides I went drinking coffee with Jonathan that day, met some friends at ETH and was looking for some new clothes. I just remember that we had 5 cm of snow that morning and I was quite shocked when I opened my window! I decided to take a later train as I read in the internet that trains and buses all over the Zurich area had delays.
Besides what happened? Yes, as everybody is talking about the global financial crisis, I read some articles about the Great Depression in the early 30s. It all started with the stock market crash on October 29, in 1929, known as Black Tuesday. The Great Depression had a great impact on Germany where one in five of the population was unemployed at the time. In my eyes, one book depicts the difficult situation in Germany at best, Erich Kästner's Fabian. It describes the life of Jakob Fabian in Berlin in 1931 with a lot of irony. Strongly recommended!
