Summer VI

As I had plenty of time and nothing to do, I participated at a research study about left-right differentiation two weeks ago. I had a brief assessment and then had to fill out some forms about my mental state and my well-being before I had to do some tests on the computer. After a little bit more than an hour I got a bookshop voucher, so I went to Orell Füssli at Bellevue where I just strolled around for a book to catch my eye. I didn't quite find what I was looking for, so I bought a Lonely Planet city guide for Beijing.
Actually I spent days in the internet looking for interesting places to go in Beijing. I was quite impressed of what I found at Flickr about The Great Wall at Jinshanling. I'm really looking forward to walk the 10km to Simatai.

Besides I finished reading "Hamlet" by Shakespeare and "I am Charlotte Simmons" by Tom Wolfe. Both of them were fantastic! "Hamlet" I read entirely in the train but the other one was so interesting I couldn't stop reading! I somehow feel sad I already finished... For my trip to China and Japan I bought Haruki Murakami's "South of the Border, West of the Sun" but right now I have to start learning for my next exams in August and September.
Recently I met quite a few friends and we had a great time together. Last Thursday I met a friend from sports to have a drink at Fass and later on at Tabacco Lounge where I met a few more! The weekend before I met Sabine for Ice Cream and a short city tour as she is from Basel. Some hours later me and Jonathan went to Winterthur as we've actually never been out there. Again we met a friend in the train and later in a Club, so we decided to sleep at her place...

This weekend Jonathan and I went to Pontresina up in the mountains to join a friend for a mountain hike. So we walked up and up and up to the Boval SAC hut at 2495m altitude. We talked and played games until late and in the early morning we departed for Diavolezza at almost 3000m altitude. In no time we were up there even though we had to cross two glaciers and so we had some Ben & Jerry Ice Cream as reward ;-)

Summer V

Yeah, last week was rather boring because it was once again rainy and cloudy all day long. So I decided to help a friend move from her old apartement to the new one. First we went to her to-be-flatmate and moved all her belongings from the third floor to a hired car downstairs. Then we had to take everything up to their new apartment on the fourth floor... Was pretty hard work especially as I went to the gym in the morning, so I actually had two workouts! All in all we had a great time moving all the furniture and besides I'm getting to know more and more places in Zurich ;-)

Moreover I've got some awesome news: I'm going to Beijing/CHN and Tokyo/JPN in September! As I told you long long ago I have a friend working in Beijing, so why not going to see him? :-) After five days in China I will move on to Tokyo where I'm going to meet Sophie and her friend Muriel and we for sure gonna render Tokyo unsafe! :-)
Unfortunately the flights I'm gonna take are bloody expensive which means I have to work a lot the next weeks... However I spent another fortune on clothes, bought at Blue Dog and Diesel Store Zurich.

In Zurich the Zürifäscht took place last weekend. As I was working anyway in town, I took the opportunity to have a glance. I met Sophie and we went to have some green thai curry at a very nice place somewhere up at Seefeldquai. We had our own sunlounger and a superb view over Lake Zurich with music and drinks right a few feet away. Time passed fast and soon we went back to the Bellevue to watch the firework over the Lake...

The picture I made when I once walked home early in the morning (yeah, pretty early) showing the railway bridge over the Rhine.

Summer IV

I had to change my mind this week. I had this idealistic view that summer is always sunny and warm. But the last days were everything else than that. It rained and was pretty cold. So on Thursday Jonathan and I decided to take an train early in the morning down to Locarno as the weather in the Ticino was much better. Jonathan as well split up with his girlfriend a few days before so we could talk about everything concerning girls and relationships during the 4.5 hour journey. In Locarno we went to the Lido at Lago Maggiore and relaxed in the sun and took a swim in the lake. At 5PM we left Locarno and continued our journey back to Schaffhausen. We read [Shakespeare - Hamlet] and talked again, but this time the train was abuzzed with commuters. Even though we were pretty tired we decided to sit back in a bar, get comfy and end the evening on a cozy note. This is what we did! We even met friends who were celebrating their school graduation. So we joined them and went to the Orient Club and later to Tabacco Lounge. On Friday I slept a bit longer and then went working until 8PM before heading for another party: the Unterstadtfäscht in Schaffhausen. It's actually more than a party, kind of a big openair party, held on Friday and Saturday. It's crazy how many people you know and it was a great event to socialize and get to know new people!
